This seminar teaches the craft of songwriting... what publishers, record companies, and artists look for in a song. It covers copyrights, royalties, how to submit songs, and information about performance rights' organizations. It covers just about everything you’ve always wanted to know about songwriting, but didn’t know who to ask.
Ray and Laura Lewis are recording artists, singers and songwriters. Their songs have been recorded by many of the top names in gospel music including such icons as the Happy Goodman Family, Kingsmen Quartet, Inspiration Quartet, the Perrys, and a host of other artist including Grand Ole Opry Star Connie Smith.
For a decade, Ray was Publishing Coordinator for Nashville-based Chestnut Mound Music Group. During his tenure with the company it was the most successful publisher of Gospel music in the nation.
Laura has written, or co-written, a number of what the Gospel Music Industry calls “career songs”. These are songs that vaulted a relatively unknown or regional artist to the top of the charts and national recognition. Some of these songs were “I'm A Winner Either Way”, “Walking Back Down”, “I Won’t Trade The Old Rugged Cross (To Sing Your Cheatin’ Heart)”, and "Dear Captain."
Along with their songwriting, touring and industry associations, the couple have also written for national Gospel publications and conducted songwriting seminars across the country for over a decade. They’ve shared their songwriting insights on the same stage with Dottie Rambo, Bill Gaither, and a host of today’s most prestigious songwriters.
This three-hour teaching session has been touted as one of Gospel music’s most highly acclaimed seminars. You’ll find it packed with useful songwriting how-to information dispensed in an entertaining, easy to understand format.
